Magic from the Heart

Magic from the Heart is #102 in the Camfield series and was published in February 1992. The Duke of Dallwyn is being forced into a marriage by a past lover who doesn't want her husband's daughter from a previous marriage around! Safina has her choice of the Duke or an asylum, so they marry and try to figure out some schemes to make some money until Safina inherits at 25!

This is a pretty cover by Forlag which shows our couple walking through the hero's house. We get the impression that it's old and very big, but elegant, as the window and chandelier show. Our heroine is lovely in a blue bustle gown with darker blue bows while our hero imitates her by wearing a darker hue.

A Dynasty of Love

A Dynasty of Love is #101 in the Camfield series and was published in January 1992. Tila's brother has let their home to an American millionaire who wishes to enter the London season and find a bride. It's an answer to Tila'a prayer, as they are very poor. She pretends to be the governess to his little orphaned daughter and saves him from a deadly plot!

Forlag's cover shows our couple at the moment where they realize that they love each other! Our heroine wears a loose yellow robe that goes well with her golden hair while the hero is casually dressed in a blue shirt and dark trousers. The room in which they stand has some comfortable chairs and may be a library.

A Theatre of Love

A Theatre of Love is #100 in the Camfield series and was published in December 1991. Note the "Jubilee edition" sticker! The Duke of Moorminster is planning on composing a Christmas pageant for the Prince and Princess of Wales but needed a new angel to perform in it. The vicar's daughter, Lavela, has a beautiful voice and is willing but a jealous mistress has an evil plan to thwart his performance!

On this special cover, we see our hero dressed as Father Christmas and our heroine, in an elegant white/silver gown, leading a parade of children during the performance. A hint of an ornate private theater along with decoration is seen but the focus is our couple.

Two Hearts in Hungary

Two Hearts in Hungary is #99 in the Camfield series and was published in November 1991. Lady Aletha Ling was looking forward to her first season until her father, trying to protect her, makes an arranged marriage! Startled, she decides to escape for a while by traveling with her father's steward to Hungary where he is overseeing the purchase of some fine horses. Masquerading as his granddaughter, she meets Prince Miklos and falls in love!

We see our heroine being helped after a fall by the hero in this cover by Forlag. He tenderly holds her while she is still in a faint and we read his regard for her in his expression. Another great romance by Barbara Cartland.

Warned by a Ghost

Warned by a Ghost is #98 in the Camfield series and was published in October 1991. Ivan, Marquis of Windlesham, is being pursued by his mistress, who is marriage minded. Only Sedela, his young neighbor, can help him escape and once his mistress realizes who is helping him, she plans to have Sedela disappear for good.

In this action cover by Forlag, we see our hero catching our heroine as she falls from above. It looks as if the large, dead snake on the floor has a lot to do with why she was in the rafters! I like the blue of the regency dress that both hero and heroine are wearing.

A Miracle in Mexico

A Miracle in Mexico is #97 in the Camfield series and was published in September 1991. Orina Vandeholt is the richest American girl and prey to every fortune hunter! She flees New York for a cruise to Mexico where she is kidnapped by an Englishman who is helping the native Mexicans bring water to their region.

We see in this cover by Fiord Forlag, our couple standing near a great waterfall. Note the native people in the background. Our hero is dressed like them, but the heroine wears a pink gown more suitable for a city! We get the impression that there is more between them than the discovery of water!

Just Fate

Just Fate is #96 in the Camfield series and was published in August 1991. Mena's widowed sister is determined to catch the Duke of Kernthorpe as her next husband, but first he wishes to meet her mother. As she has no intention of leaving Mena behind as Lais wishes, Mena becomes her mother's companion. Soon she meets the Duke but can't reveal who she really is!

In this cover by Forlag, we see our couple riding in the woods together. Our heroine has no hat, but is otherwise dressed for riding. We have no other hint about how they meet or why they're riding together! It's a pretty spring day and the artist does a good job drawing the horses.

A Tangled Web

A Tangled Web is #95 in the Camfield series and was published in July 1991. Carola Greton agrees to help her neighbor, the Marquis of Broxburne, in a masquerade to pretend to be his new bride to thwart the wealthy American family that wishes to marry into his!
She only agrees because of the love she has for the Marquis but this story has lots of twists and turns before the romantic conclusion.

In this cover by Forlag, we see our pretend married couple presiding over an elegant dinner. Our heroine is pretty in a blue gown accented with diamond jewelry. All eyes are drawn to her. Our hero looks over the table setting as we note the quantity of silver and indistinct guests.

Hiding

Hiding is #94 in the Camfield series and was published in June 1991. The Earl of Kelvindale is thrown from his horse and is saved by Carina, an orphan on the run from an unwanted marriage. She claims the stranger as her husband, not knowing he is the supreme catch in London or that he is also on the run from a devious mistress!

This cover by Forlag shows our couple, elegantly dressed, in a bedroom. We don't know if they are married in reality or still playing a part. The artwork seems indistinct and not up to the standards of the late Francis Marshall and his earlier, exquisite covers for Barbara Cartland. I get the feeling it was completed in a hurry.

Too Precious to Lose

Too Precious to Lose is #93 in the Camfield series and was published in May 1991. Norina Wyn has fled her home after her evil stepmother tried to poison her for her fortune. She has disguised herself as a widow and become secretary to a French Marquis. Norina thinks she's safe until she finds out from a family servant that her stepmother is still looking for her!

In this cover by Forlag, we see the hero rescuing the heroine from the convent where the stepmother has paid to have her killed. They look like they're in a dangerous situation but we know Cartland's stories have happy endings!

Beauty or Brains?

Beauty or Brains? is #92 in the Camfield series and was published in April 1991. Lavinia Vernon gets caught up in her friend Katherine's masquerade to become "Gaiety Girls" in order to attract the elusive Marquis of Sherwood's attention. When Lavinia does attract his attention, she begins to fear her own heart!

On this cover by Forlag, we see the Emerald Buddha, that the Marquis has acquired, being given back to the Lama from Tibet. Our couple seem mesmerized by the Buddha and judging by their attire, were wakened to see this! I think that the artist leans close to a "magna" look with the features of our couple, less defined and almost cartoon. What do you think?

Love Lifts the Curse

Love Lifts the Curse is #91 in the Camfield series and was published in March 1991. Jacoba Ford is left penniless after the death of her father and takes a position as a companion to an elderly man in the Scottish Highlands. What she doesn't realize is that the post is a joke by one of the young Earl's relatives who had decreed that no woman will ever cross his threshold again. After one of his dogs bite her, she has to stay in the great castle to heal and the servants believe she has come to lift the curse!

This cover by Forlag shows the heroine massaging the temple of the hero as he sits and recovers from his injuries. We see a stunning view of the loch. Our heroine is pretty in a sapphire dress trimmed with lace while the hero wears a dark robe. An ancestor in Scottish dress hangs on the wall behind.

No Disguise for Love

No Disguise for Love is #90 in the Camfield series and was published in February 1991. The Marquis of Calvadale travels to Fez in Morocco in order to help Narda, a young girl whose family necklace was stolen by a sheikh from there. After they arrive, Narda is captured by the White Slavers and it's up to the Marquis to save her!

Fiord Forlag is the illustrator of this cover, as stated inside the book. We see our couple, before our heroine is about to be auctioned off by the slavers. The hero is dressed as a sheikh and our heroine is in a pretty light blue robe. The hero is being talked to by another man as the heroine walks by. We see by her glimpse that she recognizes the hero!

The Queen Saves the King is #89 in the Camfield series and was published in January 1991. Pythia is on a great adventure! Her cousin, Princess Erina has been ordered by Queen Victoria to marry King Alexius of Vultarnia but is in love with another, so she asks Pythia if she will take her place!

This is a moment where the King and new Queen discover that they love one another! Our heroine looks pretty in her blue night robe and her blonde hair echoes the gold chair and carpet in the room. They seem to be enamored of each other, which is often not the case in an arranged Cartland marriage!

The Earl Rings a Belle

The Earl Rings a Belle is #88 in the Camfield series and was published in December 1990. Donela Colwyn has run away from an arranged marriage and is now performing in a Music Hall as one of Basil Bank's Three Belles! There she meets the handsome Earl of Huntingford, who makes her an improper offer! When she overhears a plot against the Earl, she decides to help him in spite of her feelings towards him and thus a romance begins!

I really like this cover. On it, we see our couple standing in a library of a home in an embrace. I love the heroine's pink and blue gown, which has a bit of a theatrical look to it. She is a perfect foil for the hero, dressed in gray. It's a happy cover and we know that if we read this book, we are guaranteed a happy ending by Barbara Cartland!

Paradise in Penang

Paradise in Penang is #87 in the Camfield series and was published in November 1990. Lord Selwyn inherits a plantation in Penang, an island off of Malaysia, far away from London and the lady who broke his heart. While there, he meets a mysterious English girl named Anona, who has lost her memory and is living with a Chinese family. However, Anona has secrets that would keep her from being a wife to Lord Selwyn!

On this cover, we see our heroine running towards the hero with a look of concern on her face. He stands on a little bridge and we see a grand house behind them. She is pretty in a light blue gown while he is dressed for the hotter climate in a light tan suit.

Of course, she is pursued by all the fortune hunters and society bucks, but cares only for her poor neighbor, Lord Flore, who won't marry her because of her fortune! We see on this cover the moment where Lord Flore saves her from an unwanted suitor! Our heroine holds a knife as if she intends to do herself harm. She stands in an elegant bedroom, richly furnished and looks startled at who is really behind her!

Love at First Sight

Love at First Sight is #85 in the Camfield series and was published in September 1990. The Marquis of Rakemoore has just outwitted Queen Victoria by declaring his engagement to a Duke's daughter instead of the German princess she had in mind! The Duke is happy but his daughter, upon hearing the news, goes missing and after an accident, ends up on the Marquis's estate. How he meets her and they discover who each really are is the plot of this romantic novel by Barbara Cartland.

This is a pretty cover of our couple and the little boy who brings them together. It's set in a country kitchen and our heroine is setting out food. She wears a pretty green gown, simply made, with a matching ribbon holding back her hair.

Love is the Key

Love is the Key is #84 in the Camfield series and was published in August 1990. Minerva Linwood's brother loses their home to the Earl of Gorleston in a game of chance. She devises a plot to save it, but gets caught up in another plot against the Earl himself. Can she save her home and find love in the bargain? This cover is done by an unknown artist. Our heroine wears Victorian dress and has her hair styled from that time period. The loud shawl she has thrown on her shoulders almost looks like a blanket from the back of a couch! She and the hero seem to be urgently conversing. I think the colors used here are almost jarring against each other, which brings me back to the odd shawl!!

BC.com is using the cover of Love Leaves at Midnight https://barbaracartlandbooksandcoverart.blogspot.com/2009/09/ for this novel. This is a Francis Marshall cover. Not sure why they are using different cover art unless the original is unavailable.

The Marquis Wins

The Marquis Wins is #83 in the Camfield series and was published in July 1990. Set in the gambling town of Baden-Baden, the Marquis of Crowle is stunned to meet Daniela, a young heiress, in the garden. She is being married off to her stepmother's lover and he is determined to help her avoid this fate.

We see our couple on the yacht streaming through the countryside. I like the castle in the background and the fact that our hero is dressed as if to sail, but our heroine is in her wedding gown, since he's just rescued her! The cover is intriguing enough to say "pick me up and read me"!

A Revolution of Love

A Revolution of Love is #82 in the Camfield series and was published in June 1990. Thekla is saved by Drogo Forde, a member of Queen Victoria's secret service, during a revolution in Kozan. When he finds out that she is actually the Royal Princess, he has to make sure she stays safe and that he doesn't fall into love with her!

I like this cover of our couple and especially like seeing another brunette heroine! She looks gorgeous in her blue bustle gown and trusts the hero to help her as they escape the building. It seems a quiet picture for a country in revolution and the climbing pink flowers growing nearby give the street a homey touch.
